Digital Resource and Acquisition Manager #81-02

Summary:

Responsible for the materials acquisition as well as monitoring nightly renders to ensure that renders are completing successfully and moving through the digital pipeline. This position requires a 45-hour workweek including day, swing, and night shifts, weekends, and possibly some holidays, depending on the production schedules.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the Digital Resource Assistants to load and backup images and other files to/from digital tape, and converts files from one format/resolution to another.
  • Responsible for learning the M:4, computer graphics pipeline.
  • Monitors nightly renders in order to catch errors and visual problems. Responsible for reporting issues to the digital artists and works to find a solution.
  • Works with Digital Resources to ensure full resource utilization during the night. Manipulates priorities to ensure that renders are completing by next business day. Reports any machine problems or general issues that hinder the completion of renders to the Resource Department.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating department software. Works closely with our Production Software team to ensure that code is clean and well maintained.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
  • Aesthetic eye and/or artistic background highly desired.
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with Windows operating systems.
  • Strong programming background (i.e. C/C++, Java) and scripting language experience (i.e. html) a must.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, 3D modeling/animation software (i.e. Maya) highly desired.
  • Database knowledge preferred (i.e. Oracle).
  • Familiarity with M:4 and video postproduction and/or computer graphics techniques highly desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with diverse personalities.
  • Strong time management skills; Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and in team settings.
  • Highly motivated. Career focus for the multimedia industry.
